Stations

The construction of terminal stations in Shinagawa and Nagoya requires utmost attention to detail.
It involves setting up large spaces and structures directly beneath commercial railways currently operating.
This work is extremely challenging and requires advanced construction technology.
Open-cut excavation from the ground surface is being used for this task.

Construction procedure

Construction of the stations includes safe replacement of structures currently used for the Tokaido Shinkansen and conventional railway lines. The diaphragm wall method will be used to build retaining walls without affecting the surrounding environment before excavating underground space for Chuo Shinkansen station structures. Overviews of both Chuo Shinkansen stations are provided below.

Shinagawa Station

This station will be approx. 3,280 feet long and 196 feet wide
(maximum) with a total area of approx. 8 acres.
